The Bunting Road Campus, also known as APB, is one of the four urban campuses of the University of Johannesburg. It is located in the suburb of Cottesloe, not directly in Auckland Park as its name might suggest. The campus is known for its unique setting, resembling a middle-class South African suburb.
The campus is home to the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (FADA) and the Faculty of Management. FADA offers a wide range of programs, including architecture, fashion design, graphic design, and more. The campus also hosts part of the College of Business and Economics, which includes several schools such as the Johannesburg Business School and the School of Tourism and Hospitality.
Bunting Road Campus is situated near Kingsway Avenue, but it is not the same as the Kingsway Campus. The Kingsway Campus, located at the corner of Kingsway and University Road, is the largest and most populated campus of the University of Johannesburg. It serves as the administrative hub of the university.
The Bunting Road Campus offers various facilities, including a total of 55 lecture halls with over 4,400 seats. It also features a radio station, UJFM, and a Netcare Clinic for health services. The campus has several restaurants and venues, such as the Design Café and the Con Cowan Theatre, which are used for both academic and cultural events. Additionally, there are student residences available for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Student life at the Bunting Road Campus is vibrant, with opportunities for both academic and extracurricular activities. The campus has a shuttle service connecting it to other UJ campuses, and it is also accessible via the Rea Vaya bus rapid transit system. The School of Tourism and Hospitality offers practical training in its facilities, including restaurants like the Waterford Restaurant and the Bistro.
For sports enthusiasts, the campus provides various outdoor and indoor facilities, including basketball courts, cricket pitches, and soccer fields. These facilities are available for hire and are used by both students and external groups.
